Broken Glass Prompts Recall of Popular Beech-Nut Baby Food

If you’re the parent or guardian of an infant, take note. Amsterdam, NY-based Beech-Nut Nutrition Corporation recently issued a voluntary recall of more than 1,900 pounds of baby food, warning consumers of a potential glass contamination.

Company officials launched the recall of all units of its Classics Stage 2 Sweet Potato & Chicken following a single report of a small glass piece found in a jar of the product causing an oral injury to a child. Affected units are four-ounce jars with product lot codes 12395750815 through 12395750821 printed on the cap.

The company moved swiftly to address the issue and thus far, no other injuries have been reported.

“The quality and safety of our products is our number one priority,” Beech-Nut said in a media release and on its website. “We know we have not met the expectations of parents who rely on Beech-Nut for quality nutrition for their babies and toddlers in this case, and for that we apologize.”

If your baby enjoys Beech-Nut foods and has not suffered an injury, return remaining jars to the store where they were purchased for a full refund or replacement. However, if your child has suffered an injury, such as a cut to his or her mouth area or hand, that you believe may have been caused by a recalled jar of baby food, get your child medical treatment and contact an experienced product liability and personal injury attorney with Orlando’s Todd E.
